Years of research, selection, breeding and knowledge have come together to give the public a unique chance to purchase prospects, riders, and breeding horses. While each of our programs are different, our goal remains the same... providing you with the best horses in the business. Every single horse in the sale will be 5 panel N/N by testing or by parentage so you can bid with confidence!

2025 KIDS BID Winner

2025 brought the 5th year that the Blue Valentine & Driftwood Heritage Production Sale has offered LOT 40, "KIDS BID ONLY" weanling. From the 2021 sale through 2025, each year a "KIDS BID" colt is offered for bidding that ONLY kids 16 years old and younger, with parents or guardians' consent, can bid/purchase.

LR ROWDY BLUE DAKOTA, "Dakota", is a very laid back and easy-going, grullo roan colt sired by JM ROWDY BLUE HAYES out of BLUE BERRY MAID. The 2025 "KIDS BID" Champion, 12-year-old Gracie Ford & her family made a road rip to LAUING RANCH in South Dakota for her new grullo roan colt, "DAKOTA". 

Gracie reports that, "Dakota is very curious, energetic, willing to learn and very mindful of his surroundings. I am very excited to see and experience his big potential down the road." Gracie also received a 1 year PAID AQHA Youth Memebership. Dakota is eligible for all AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenge and Futurities.

Sale proceeds go to the "KIDS BID" Scholarship fund for students pursuing a post-secondary education in agriculture and/or education. Where else can you find this terrific opportunity year after year? Sure appreciate all the super kids and their family's interest in the "KIDS BID."

This year we will be offering this Black Filly for π—žπ—œπ——π—¦ π˜π—Ό π—•π—œπ—— 𝗒𝗑 π—’π—‘π—Ÿπ—¬.

If you are 16 years old or younger then you are eligible to bid (of course with your parent/guardian’s consent & assistance).

  • Sale proceeds go to the KID BID Scholarship fund

KIDS BID Scholarship

The winning scholarship candidate receives a $1,500 scholarship created with the intention of keeping our youth engaged and interested in agriculture and/or education future generations while pursuing a post-secondary education at a school of their choice.

The BV&D Scholarship is for kids 17 and older that would be going to college for their freshman or sophomore year. The scholarship amount is $1,500.

The BV&D 2027 Scholarship application information will be available in April, 2027.

Josette Crain

2026 Scholarship Winner

2026's recipient, Josette Crain, is someone whose work ethic sets her apart from ordinary youth. This young lady from Harrold, South Dakota is trustworthy, kind, and respectful in everything she does whether it is in 4-H Rodeo, SD High School Rodeo, NBHA, pitching in to help family and friends with their ranch work, or with her job. In addition to her 4-H Rodeo, High School Rodeo, her NBHA participation and multiple job responsibilities, she is also part of the workforce on the ranch raising and caring for her horses. Jo is extremely proud of her efforts riding and training young horses.

We would like to congratulate Josette Crain, as the 5th winner of the BV&D "Kids Bid: Scholarship. Jo is an extremely hard-working individual with a perspective on life and family not commonly found in someone her age. Horses are clearly a major aspect of her life.

This fall, Josette will be attending the Oklahoma Horseshoeing School in Purcell, to pursue a career in Professional Horseshoeing, looking to improve & maintain equine health care and mobility. In her future, Jo aims to provide essential, specific trimming and shoeing needs for each horse, and continue to rodeo. 

Best wishes to Jo as she looks towards the ever-growing equine industry. The winning candidate receives a $1,500 scholarship created with the intention of keeping our youth engaged and interested in agriculture and/or educating future generations while pursuing a post-secondary education at a school of their choice. JD Lauing's wonderful "Kids Bid" idea was an amazing success.
